| so the stupidity continues...at home that is. i get a call from my mom today telling me that my credit card company called and wanted me to call them back...for reasons unspecified. and then she proceeds to give me their number (and extension), and my file number. when she finished reading the telephone number, i discovered that it was incorrect and missing a digit. so unless canada has a new telephone system that only accepts 6 digits of the usual 7 as a phone number, i'll be damned and cows will fly over the moon. the phone number in question is as follows for which she told me and that i've written down on the skin of my medial cruciate ligament... 1-8-8-8-9-8-1-6-0-2 which translates into 1-888-981-602
clearly either i'm dyslexic of hearing or 100% of the time, my mom's level of english doesn't match to any form of logic at all. because when i repeated the numbers back to her and questioned her about it...she suggested that i just thrown in another "8" before the "9" to make it a 7 digit number. clearly there is something wrong with the arbritrariness of just throwing an a random number!!!
and she tells me that it's a toll free number...yes i can clearly see that it would be a toll free number if i grouped the three 8's together!!! so to all you people out there...please learn your numbers properly...if you can't do that, just let the answering machine get the call, or don't answer or suggest an answer because it is clear that the level of comprehension is just not there! and you don't want to make matters worse!!! we're lucky in this case ((maybe not so lucky...as if it was the IRS in the US, or CRA in canada, or any financial institution calling about fraud/credit stuff), i think i would be royally screwed!!!) that there were no burning building that were reported, or falling meteorites, or sea monsters. but you never know when the next lurking tse tse fly could happen to catch you off guard!!! so beware!!!
| So...some awesome quotes that i've either dished out or heard in the past little while... "Vincent. Yeah, that guy is Andy Lau" - Mr. Miole "Sleep is for the weak" - Jeff, Drew, Rick, Joe, Keith, Cuong "Man, I tell you...Vincent, he's wicked-awesome! During rounds today, he took someone's Blood Pressure, just using a Blood Pressure Cuff!!! He didn't even need to use a stethoscope!!! He's hardcore!!!" - some random classmates "I think non-profit delivery should be the way to go. (refering to healthcare)" - Jen "Non-profit?!?! Non-profit delivery of babies???" - Vincent
As you can clearly see, logic, rationale, critical thinking were all at play here! Go KungPao Chicken!!!
| another eating fest today. 8am breakfast at home. luckily for me, it's the healthy porridge stuff with lots of fruit, milk and the daily dose of vitamins. got to keeps those intestines patent and peristaltic. 10:30am brunch over at fran's close to the pantages theatre. scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast, orange juice, fried potatoes, and sausage. um...good dose of salt, pepper, and ketchup...gotta love that lycopene. by now, i'm feeling pretty full, and i had a conference to go to. i simply couldn't remember if they served food there or not. so now that i'm pretty much full, i'm ready, if they don't have food, that's okay, i still got my lunch in my bag (sandwich with fruit). if they do serve lunch...well well =p 12:30pm, there is food, salad with raspberry vinegarette, bread, salmon with vegetables and some weird sauce, fruit dessert cup. now i'm completely full, and i have to sit and listen in on some speech. i'm praying that the itis won't hit me, so i down some tea to keep me awake. which is probably a bad idea, cause i really had to go pee. and the guy talking was pretty important, and i was supposed to take notes. | | |
| this past friday (friday, march 10, 2007), i can safely say, in all of my history being me, it will probably go down as the most food i've had, 4 meals in a 6hour period. i was on msn earlier on in the day with the asian invasion determining if we were to go see 300 and/or take in some pizza/wings (the main staple that we've had consistently in university, that has helped up keep hunger at bay many a time). but then afterwards, it was decided that we'd save it for next time around. though i did manage to get adwoo to agree to a wing fest. meal #1 3pm, i head over to a toned down version of marche (or the other richtree miniaturized organizations) at college park, as i had a craving for some grease. it was either marche or kfc and their poutine. an i remember poutine being around super expensive, decided on the former of marche with their curry chicken & rice for $2.99 lunch special (yes...lunch this late in the day, and i've already had my lunch before). unfortunately for me, they ran out of rice, so i was suggesting another staple food...and what i got was rosti potatoes (not the greatest of choice as those are already laced in grease and have a high glucose content. snack #1 apple on the subway ride home to help me restore the body to a workable condition before dinner. meal #2 6pm, dinner at home. i made sure i packed lots of vegetables as that would hopefully offset my grease intake from the meal before, and also prepare the bowels for the onslaught of wings to come soon. meal #3 before 8pm, at adwoo's place, but ad tells me that it's lent and he can't eat meat, so instead we pack it up for some fries and gravy. i tell you, it was some intense eats. i didn't just get one serving...i got 2!!! meal #4 at adwoo's place around 8:30pm, the parent's have already eaten, and they start offering me more food. this time, it's fish pot pie. i've never had it before, so i say, sure thing. i must say...props to my digestive system for destroying the food. luckily for me, i remember to down lots of water to help out with the sodium overload. once again, chaps prevails...but not in varsity form. damn, i got to get back into shape so i don't feel like a couch potatoe after the 2nd meal.

| it is quite amusing to see how people react and even how the stock markets react. of note is especially the oil industry. whether it be hurricanes, typhoons, civil unrest, the talk about reducing output, most of the time, this stuff has yet to happen to affect any of production output, but yet, people get all willy-nilly in their pants and create a panicked furvour. and this panicked furvour will translate into disruption of production etc, etc, etc. but remember, nothing has happened yet. those acts of god have yet to land, war has yet to break loose, and reduction in production has yet to take place. but already at the gas pumps, we see a steep increase in prices reflecting something that has not happened yet. it's almost like saying, i'm going to buy a car. though i've only thought about it, and have yet to take action, it seems that the car has already been bought for me (of course, this would translate very nicely for me, as i don't have a car at this point in time, or a waterfront condo, or a 100+acre estate in the middle of the city). and what really gets me is that this jump in price is quickly reflected in the sharp rise in the cost of groceries cause the transportation of food requires gas, the heating and producing of electricity to supply the supermarkets requires gas, and that gas has just went up in price and is passed down to the consumer. but unfortunately for the consumer, their wages are not tied to the increase in gas prices. how unlucky for the consumers. i guess they will have to see food costing more while their paycheques stay the same so they can buy even smaller portions of food. though this might not be a bad idea as it would go a long way to helping the population en masse shed those calories. it would be a great weight loss program in disguise!!! | | |
